John Fohl has been in Blue Velvet NOLA this spring working on a collection of mostly acoustic solo instrumentals. John is a versatile guitar player but this is all fingerpicking, mostly Blues, Ragtime and Jazz. Fohl was a member of Dr Johns band, the Lower 911, for many years. He has also played and toured with artists like Clarence ‘Gatemouth’ Brown, Shemeka Copeland, Charlie Musselwhite, Bo Diddley, The Blind Boys of Alabama, The Cherry Poppin’ Daddies, Johnny Sansone, Shannon MacNally. You can hear John play every Monday in New Orleans at Dos Jefes Cigar bar. When he is not playing solo he’s one of the most in demand guitarists in New Orleans. You can usually find him playing three or four other shows or sessions a week.
