“Most of these songs are witty and often humorous, but occasionally they border on sheer insanity. Highlights here include the raucous opener “I’m an Inmate in the Prison of your Heart,” an otherwise common relationship analogy, but it’s driven by a catchy guitar ride and an inventive arrangement. “Don’t Want To Work No More” has become J’s life style motto over the years and many will recall this rocker originally appeared on the Hitmen’s initial classic LP Nuclear Hayride.”
Johnny J has been a fixture on the New Orleans music seen for over 30 years. His music combines New Orleans R&B with Rockabilly, Country and Blues influences. Jay is famous for not only his vast catalog of original songs but also his almost endless repertoire of obscure R&B and early Rock’n Roll nuggets.
There are more plans to do more sessions in August before Johhny J heads to Europe for a series of summer dates.
